Tom Thumb raised $16, 000 for American Cancer Society.

American Cancer SocietyWhat is Relay for Life? Relay is the number one fundraising event held by the American Cancer Society. It is a fun-filled overnight event in which members of the community come together to celebrate those who have triumphed against cancer, honor those who lost their battle to cancer, and encourage those battling the disease. The money raised is used to spread awareness and cancer education, research programs, and even to aid those with cancer. It is an event that Tom Thumb has participated in for more than 13 years.

American Cancer Society and Turbo TomOn April 23, our Relay team laced up their shoes, donned their Relay shirts and headed over to the Old Spanish Trail in Crestview, FL where the event takes place each year. Everyone was ready for a night filled with games, activities, and fund raising. Unfortunately, due to a severe thunderstorm, the event was cancelled less than 3 hours into it. However, through our fund raising efforts throughout the year, Tom Thumb raised $16,000 for the American Cancer Society. This was great news!

Better news was still to come. Our team received notification from our local ACS office that in 2009, there were 8,822 Relay for Life teams in the state of Florida. Out of all of those teams, Tom Thumb was the number 14 top fund raising team in the state of Florida. What an amazing accomplishment!

We would like to thank all of our associates and to our vendors for their participation and support in our fund raising efforts. We also would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those customers that purchased our cancer awareness merchandise. Your contributions have helped make our Relay team successful.
